Scaffold for the house

Extensions, re-roofs, render, fascias, chimney repairs and everything else that needs safe access around a home. We come out, look at the ground and the elevations, and put up a TG20 compliant scaffold that suits the job rather than whatever is on the lorry. Boarded lifts, guardrails, toe boards, ladder access and a tidy site, then a clean strike the moment your trades are finished.

Questions

Asked and answered

How much does domestic scaffolding cost in Southampton?

It comes down to the number of elevations, the height, how many lifts you need and how long it is standing. A single gable for a chimney repair and a full wrap on a two-storey house with a temporary roof are different jobs entirely. We price after seeing the property or a few clear photos, and the quote sets out the erect, the hire period and the strike so you can see what you are paying for rather than getting one number.

How long can I keep the scaffold up?

The quote covers an agreed hire period, and most domestic jobs sit somewhere between two and eight weeks depending on the work. If the builder overruns, and builders do, ring us and we extend it. What we ask is that you tell us rather than leaving it, because an unpriced overrun is the one thing that turns a straightforward job into an argument at the end.

Do I need permission for scaffolding on my property?

Not if every part of it sits within your own boundary. If any of it stands on the pavement or the road, or if the pavement has to be closed to the public, that needs a licence from the highway authority, which is Southampton City Council or Hampshire County Council depending on where you are. We deal with that and factor it into the price rather than turning up and finding out.

What if the scaffold has to go over a neighbour's garden?

You need their agreement before we start, and it is far better asked in advance than negotiated on the morning. In practice most neighbours are fine with it when they are asked properly and know how long it is there for. We can talk you through what the scaffold actually needs to overhang, so you are asking for something specific instead of open-ended access.

Is the scaffold safe for my roofer to use?

It is put up to TG20 and handed over with the paperwork to say so. Boarded lifts, double guardrails, toe boards, ties into the structure and access gates are standard, not extras. If a trade needs something changed, a loading bay, an extra lift, a section dropped to work under, we would rather come back and alter it properly than have somebody adapt it themselves.

How much notice do you need?

Ring us and you will get an answer and a date in the diary within 7 days. Most domestic jobs go up within a fortnight of accepting the quote, and short jobs like a chimney access tower can often be fitted in sooner. If you have a fixed date with a roofer or a solar installer, tell us and we will work back from it.
